Cake Journey 101 - Where did it all begin?

As a child I loved spending time with my Mum in the kitchen helping her bake - and consuming endless amounts of cherry tomatoes. I'd like to say my passion for baking started at this ripe young age, but truthfully I preferred licking the spoon, bowl and any kitchen utensil with a scrap of cake mixture (I can happily say I have grown out of this habit, and now wait until the cake is in the oven to lick the bowl!).

Baking for me is like a science, a chemistry experiment with precision and skill that results in tasty cakes crying out to be devoured. It provides stress relief, the opportunity to try new things and best of all, I like eating the end product!

After we bought our first home in 2016, I decided it was time to dust off the spoons and baking trays. It is fair to say I was a little rusty but after a few batches of sinking cupcakes and a particular pineapple upside down cake (that nearly became the pineapple right-way-up on the floor cake), I was back in the game. Unfortunately photographic evidence of my first few disastrous bakes is currently unavailable...
